The leaves have started to turn their glorious riot of color. There is a distinct chill in the air that wasn’t present just weeks ago. While we may be prone to add more into our schedules, I ask for something different this year. Let’s slow down and embrace this fall season as a family.
Fall is a perfect time for coming together as a family. Instead of rushing out more, adding more errands and activities, let’s slow down.
Find Joy this Fall Season
Instead of looking forward to (or dreading) the big holidays ahead, what if we enjoy today? Our mental health should be a priority and fall is a great time to work on us.
This fall, embrace what nature offers and enjoy the little things together, as a family.
We don’t always have to be on the move. We don’t always have to be productive. It’s okay to slow down, put our screens away, and spend quality time together, with our family.
This fall season, embrace nature with your family.
Get outside together. Be together as a family and slow down. Put on your soft, warm clothes, comfortable shoes or boots, and take a walk in the woods. Have kids find colorful leaves, acorns, and pinecones. Walk hand in hand with your partner and talk. Just be together and see where slowing down takes you.
We all have busy lives, but we don’t need to continue adding activities and events to be fulfilled. Let’s teach our teens and kids about finding joy within ourselves.
Embrace this fall season with family baking.
Scent can bring feelings of nostalgia. Make memories with your family and bake together with classic fall scents like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger.
Homemade donuts, muffins, breads and soups are an incredible way to spend time together in the warmth of your kitchen. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You just have to be together, in the moment.
Take a couple hours each week to be together. You may be surprised to find your mental load lightens with the laughter of your children, the smiles on your teens, and the joy of being together.
Make this Fall Season a Time for Family
You don’t need to plan trips or spend money to be happy together. You can slow down right in your own space. Have a fire and roast marshmallows with your family, watch a scary movie with your teens, and play in the backyard together.
Let’s find peace this fall season and improve our mental well being as a family.
