Men and women, while compatible, are inherently different. Females by nature are intuitive, curious, and empathetic. That’s why there is so much power in female friendships.
When we need help or support, it’s natural that we turn to our closest friends. Female friendships are our emotional support system in good and bad.
Like Minded Women
Females are naturally more keen in reading emotions and validating another’s feelings. When we need a pick me up, we turn to our closest friends to unload what we’ve been feeling and what we’ve been dealing with. When you have a like-minded friend, it feels natural to unload your burdens and help solve problems. Female friendships provide an emotional strength in life.
When you have a healthy female friendship, you know where you can always go for advice, where someone will always have a listening ear, and where you can feel your self-esteem being lifted. Female friends are such an important part of our well-being. The bonding in our female friendships allows us to talk about virtually anything – – sex, love, relationships, marriage, kids and all the drama within.
True friendships create bonds that support our emotional well-being. Our friends can read our emotions and validate our feelings. We can share our deepest secrets with our closest friends knowing that we will be supported.
Self-care and Female Friendships
If you’ve spent any time here at In The Now Counseling, you know I talk about self-care and it’s importance especially for women and mothers. As natural caregivers it’s easy to experience an increased level of stress and anxiety. When you are feeling stressed and tired, call your best female friend, unload your burdens guilt-free, and you’ll probably feel a bit lighter. The power of female friendships is that they are just there for you. They get it. They get you. You don’t need your bestie to fix your problem. You just need her to listen, make you laugh, and force you out the next week to get drinks.
When we have that emotional support, that person who listens to us, we feel happier. We are happier.
